Hello my fellow queers!

My name is Gabrielle Shulruff, and I am the Vice President of External Affairs for Equal at UCF (formerly known as GLBSU).

I came across this page, strangely, looking for information on the Queer Monologues that was once put on I believe a few years ago.

If anyone is interested in participating in Equal, or would like to hear some more information on it, please feel free to e-mail me at gabrielle@equalucf.org.

Hey community! I'll be starting grad school at UCF in January and wanted to introduce myself to you fine people.

I'm Kelly. I grew up here, graduated from UCF, but never got a chance to join the GLBSU. That's changing as soon as I start school again!

Anyway, I need more gayness in my life. Where does everyone hang out now that Southern and Faces are gone?

Can't wait to meet you all :)

Important Information from Peter Gaspar, GLBSU President:

Hey Everyone,

This week is the elections for SGA President!
This vote is VERY important to GLBSU, and all GLBT students, faculty and supporters on campus.

ANTI- GAY runningmates MARK WHITE AND JARED STOUT are running for President and VP, and in last weeks meeting to discuss funding for student organizations for next year they were adiment about Diva Invasion and GLBSU getting NO funding, calling what we do "disgusting" and "If what was done at Diva Invasion was done on the streets we would be arrested for indecent exposure".

The link below is an audio file of presidental hopeful Mark White, making fun of our organization and Diva Invasion. Please listen- and DO NOT VOTE FOR MARK WHITE AND JARED STOUT in the election this week.

To vote in the election, please log onto MyUCF at http://www.my.ucf.edu/

If you have any questions, feel free to email me at Pete44S@aol.com

Roommate Needed
My roommate plans fell through for Fall, so I wanted to see if anyone was looking. I have a couple pets (2 guinea pigs and a turtle) so I'd need a place that allows pets. But they aren't stinky! lol My roommate totally bailed on me so really all I'm looking for is a decent sized bedroom and preferably my own bathroom, but I'm willing to work with anything at this point. Please let me know if you are interested...

I've received word that the Central Florida Federation
of Republican Women is hosting a talk this evening by
a speaker from the Seminole County Republican Party on
the "Homosexual Agenda" and how they plan on fighting
against it. All progressive individuals and anyone
opposed to the blatant homophobia that the Republicans
harbor must come out and oppose this meeting. We can
shut it down!

The gay-bashers will be meeting at 6:30PM in the
Denny's in Casselberry on SR 436 and Oxford Rd (near
the intersection of 436 & 17-92). These people are
gathering in Central Florida to discuss suppressing
gay rights and moving us closer to some kind of
fundamentalist Dark Ages morality - come out today and
show them what you think about THEIR agenda.

Today is National Coming Out Day!
The Gay, Lesbian & Bisexual Student Union (GLBSU) is proud to announce that Monday, October 11th, 2004 is officially National Coming Out Day! National Coming Out Day is an event organized by the GLBSU in conjunction with the Gay, Lesbian & Bisexual Community Center of Orlando and will be held on the steps of Orlando City Hall. We invite all gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and straight allies to come participate as we recognize the importance of coming out of the closet as a queer person and pay respects to those who have come out before us. Featured speakers include Orlando City Commissioner Patty Sheehan, Vonn New of Equality Florida, Reverend Jim Merritt of the JOY Metropolitan Community Church, a performance by the Orlando Gay Chorus and more!

In this upcoming election season it is imperative that the GLBT and GLBT ally community of Orlando be recognized and make their presence known. Come join us as we share stories, mobilize voters, and hold vigil for those who have stood up and stood out!

What: National Coming Out Day
When: Mon, Oct. 11; 6:30pm
Where: Orlando City Hall (Downtown)

I've decided that I need to get my ass in gear and try to find a REAL JOB because my current one is miserable. The flub in my plan, all i've ever done in my life has been working in restaurants (sad isn't it). Granted i've done the gambit from hosting to serving, to training new employees, office work, and doing grand openings for new restaurants...so i'm fairly well rounded and skilled.

What I need...help writing a resume. If anybody can do this for me..send me a template I can just fill in...or create a beautiful one for me..please let me know.

If anybody has the scoop on a good paying job, with good benefits, i'd also love to hear about it !!!  *GRIN*

Luv ya

I've been doing alot of self evaluation lately, what direction I want to take my life in...my approach to dealing with people, etc...  I have let the shadey actions of the people i've met in my first few months here shape the way that I relate to new people that I come across.  It's a reflex, a defense mechanism, but it's something that I need to work on because I'm keeping good people at a distance too.  I've lived in Orlando for about 2 years now, and have a few aquaintances and hardly anybody i'd call FRIEND...it's kind of sad.  It has to do, in part, with the fact Orlando is such a transitory city with people constantly coming and going.  I've made some great friends, but they've moved away so now they are long distance friends...then i've fallen into relationships and that put meeting new friends on the sidelines.  There's also what I mentioned before...by fluke, odds, cosmic coinky dink I ran into a string of just sketchy, fake people who played lots of games and used me.  Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me became my mindset and I think it did more harm than good because I expected pretty much everybody I came across to screw me over.  I'd meet people and have a great time, good conversations, the whole nine but then it didn't pan out....why?  Well in some cases the "damned if I do/damned if I didn't" came into play...if we hung out and didn't fool around than they didn't get what they were after so they didn't want to talk anymore.  On the flip side if something DID happen than they did get what they want and they didn't talk anymore.  It kinda sucked and definately impacted the way I perceived people.

It's also very different as you get older (late 20's and up) trying to meet people because, by that age, most people have their friendships firmly established and are usually meeting people with the idea of romance in the back of their minds.  I've actually had a few guys tell me "Dude you are really cool, cute, and fun....but I have more friends than I can handle right now and am really just looking for a boyfriend..."  WTF is that!  It's just a rough spot to be in, mid-late 20's, new in town, not really knowing many people, having to build a life for yourself without the benefit of college, a job like Disney, or friends to introduce you to more people  It's even more hard when you are kind of shy in new situations and not a big club person.

This is one of the reasons I created the gayorlando community and hope that it works out.</span>
